Not So Volcanic caldera and the Grey Hues
One door closes and another one opens. We started the day with gloomy news that all the airports and ports are closed due to ongoing union strike. By the time we sorted and figured out an alternative mode of transport to get to Crete, a good part of the day had passed. We went to Fira to await the move towards Crete. The Weather Gods must have felt ours emotions and revealed grey hues in place of the vibrant blues. But by God, the result was spectacular. One of the memories that will always be close to me. The unscheduled visit to Santo wines at Pyrgos was the cherry on the already over flowing exquisiteness. Like every other person, we had a day earlier taken a half day cruise on the traditional wooden boat to Caldera Island and Hot springs. A short hike leads to top of Caldera island and some more views of the croissant island and some smoke here and there. The jump into hot spring is best avoided as one get less than 10 minutes.
