Through the window of Fira

The window into the travel book Santorini was through the town of Fira. The capital of the island is along the west of the croissant Island. The clifftop town with its white washed buildings cobbled narrow streets and peak a boo views between the large clusters is breath taking. The paths are lined with luxury hotels, terraced restaurants and of course shopping establishments.  Every nook feels picture perfect and every corner calls you to capture it.

The First sight of Aegean Sea on foot

The Cliff top Buildings

Now shopping is not my forte, so among the first things we did was to explore the cafes and local eats. And the greatest find was the flavoured greek yoghurt. Heaven just got closer to me. If i ever go back to greece, it would be to have the greek yoghurt. And of course how can one forget the greek coffee. Just the jump start required after the hectic hopping between countries and cities.

After the soul stirring greek yoghurt, we took a cable car instead of the popular donkey ride down to the old port of Fira. Traditional boats line the port ferrying tourists around to caldera. And we being no different had that on our itinenary the next day. The blue of Aegean soothes away all the misery of life. Wonder where the locals go to get away. Do they realize they are already in Paradise.

Fira has little bit of everything for everyone. Churches for the god fearing, Galleries and public art for the creative ideators, shopping for the compulsive buyer and of course the food and wine for the gastronomically inclined. Sharing some pictures of the same.
